CURRENT SUMMER MAKE-UP ROUTINE.

June 26, 2017

make-up routine
1. BECCA BACKLIGHT PRIMER / 2. MARC JACOBS SPOTLIGHT / 3. HD FOUNDATION / 4. BEAUTY BLENDER / 5. TARTE CONCEALER / 6. SETTING POWDER / 7. HOURGLASS BRONZER / 8. BROW PENCIL / 9. LOREAL MASCARA / 10. EYE LINER / 11. CONTOUR KIT / 12. LIPSTICK / 13. LIP PLUMPER
I’ve been wanting to do a make-up post for a while, but now that I really have a routine down that I’m loving, it seemed like the perfect time! I am funny because I absolutely LOVE make-up, watching tutorials and reading reviews, but I very rarely switch up my own products. Like it takes A LOT to make my change my ways. I have used the same mascara since I was 17! Don’t get me wrong, I have tried others, like the much-raved about ‘Better than Sex’ mascara by Too Faced, and I always come back to old faithful. Without further delay, here is my current make-up routine! [For the record, my skin is typically on the dry side.]

SKIN PREP:

After I have washed my face with my Targeted Skin cleanser, I use my daily moisturizer (also from Targeted Skin) and let that soak into my skin for about 5 minutes before putting on any make-up at all. Next, I apply the Becca Backlight primer to my entire face using my fingertips. I follow that up with my new favorite–the Marc Jacobs Spotlight highlighter–I rub this all over my face as well and dab it in with a beauty blender. I learned this little glow-trick from beauty guru Jess Southern, and it really is a game changer. I am obsessed with the dewy skin look right now, so I do a LOT in the way of highlighting.

FACE:

Next, I apply my foundation. Right now my go-to is the HD Foundation by Make Up For Ever. It’s full coverage, but feels extremely light on my face. It also photographs well, which I lurve as a blawgger. I wear the shade 127, but if I am on the tanner side, I will also mix in a dab of the 128. I use my fingertips to apply foundation. I have tried brushes and my fingers just work better! Morgan Stewart does it and that’s good enough for me.
For my concealer I use Tarte Shape Tape and it is by far the best I have ever tried! I am currently using the shade ‘light sand,’ because I like my under-eye area to be super bright. I will also brush this on the bridge of my nose, my cupid’s bow, my forehead and my chin. You definitely do not need much of this product, a little bit goes a long way. I blend all of this out with a damp beauty blender. I set my under-eye and middle of my forehead with Laura Mercier’s transluscent setting powder.

Lastly on my face, I use the Hourglass Bronzer in Luminous Bronze Light. I apply it using this brush, starting around my hairline first, and work my way down and around my cheekbones and finally down to my chin. Don’t forget your neck! #PetPeeve

BROWS:

For my brows, I use another CVS favorite! NYX Brow Push-up Bra is my go-to. I have fairly blonde brow hair, so they can be tricky. I get my them waxed every 4-6 weeks by Shana at The Perfect Brows in Buckhead and I love her! She has completely changed the shape of my brows.

EYES:

I have been using the same mascara and eyeliner since high school…that is ridiculous sounding, I know, but they work for me! I set my eyelids using the banana powder in the Anastasia Contour Kit (I actually don’t like eye shadow and never wear it at all!) and then line my upper lids using Rimmel London’s liquid eyeliner from CVS. If it is daytime, I might use a white liner on my waterline to open up my eyes, or if I’m going full glam, I’ll use my MAC liner in black. I finish my eyes with several coats of Loreal’s Voluminous Mascara in ‘carbon black.’

For lash length, I use Grande Lash serum! Sometimes I even brush this on my brows if I feel like I need a little more fullness. One tube lasts for weeks.

LIPS:

Last, but not least, I love a nude lip. Most days I use MAC Fleshpot lipstick and gloss over it with Sephora’s Outrageous lip plumper. It really does plump them and it’s only $12!

OTHER FAVORITE TOOLS:

–Croc Hair Clips: Keep your hair out of your face without creasing it. I buy them in bulk and have these in every bag, and even in my car!

–Sigma Spa Brush Cleaning Mat: Sticks to the bottom of your sink for easy brush cleaning! I use this brush shampoo. Have I mentioned I hateee brush cleaning?

–SLIP Silk Pillowcase: I got this gem for Christmas last year, have since bought another to travel with and totally swear by it! Not only does it prevent future wrinkles from forming on your skin, but it is less damaging on your hair AND stays cool during the warmer summer nights! Love. it.

–Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray: Set your face with this and you won’t have to reapply all night!

There you have it, guys. Face beat on repeat. If you have any tips or products you love, I’d love to hear from you!
